Terms of Service

Last updated: April 9, 2026

1. Agreement & Eligibility

By using the chatuvo application, you agree to these Terms of Service. You represent that you are at least 18 years old (or the legal age in your jurisdiction) and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

These terms are a binding agreement. We may update them periodically; your continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Nature of the Software

chatuvo is a free, decentralized chat client. It is a tool that allows users to interact with a peer-to-peer gossip network.

  • No Network Operation: We do not operate, manage, or control the decentralized network. The network consists of independent peers (users).
  • Local Content Filtering: To comply with legal requirements and ensure user safety, the application may employ client-side content filtering and public-key blacklists. This process happens entirely on your device; no data is transmitted to a central server for moderation purposes.
  • Local Storage: All data and keys are stored exclusively on your own device.
  • No Recovery: We cannot recover lost accounts or messages, as we have no access to your private keys or network traffic.

3. User Responsibilities & Conduct

You are solely responsible for your keys, device security, and the content you transmit. You agree not to use the application for:

  • Illegal, harmful, harassing, or defamatory content.
  • Distribution of malware or spam.
  • Impersonation of others or unauthorized access to data.
  • Commercial use without prior written consent.

4. Intellectual Property

The chatuvo software and branding are owned by the developers. You retain all rights to your own messages. As we do not operate the network, we do not store or process your content; any license granted is solely to allow the software to function as a client within the decentralized network.

5. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranties.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, chatuvo and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data. Since the software is provided free of charge, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

6. General Terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the developers are established. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining terms stay in effect. We reserve the right to terminate your access to the software if you breach these terms.
